Thanks in large part to the efforts of KFTF peace advocate Mutsuko Suzuki, a screening of the film Nagasaki – Angelus Bell was held for the children at the St. Luke’s School. Prior to the screening, Kim Allen, a teacher at the school, gave a basic background speech on the atomic bomb and KFTF Chairman Todd Yamamoto spoke about the message of the film.
Following the screening, Mr. Yamamoto held a Q&A session with the students, which gave rise to numerous questions and points of view. Mr. Yamamoto remarked, “It is not a matter of placing blame or responsibility. So long as these destructive weapons exist, permanent peace can never be achieved in the world. My hope is that you, who carry the future on your shoulders, will consider carefully the ideals of peace and harmony, and in light of these matters create a wonderful environment in which to live.”
After watching the movie, the students expressed their feelings in a letter to Senator Hillary Clinton.
Below is the response from the Senator’s office.
